Neuron Smile Hoya
J-Hope aka Jung Hoseok, who is known as a South Korean rapper, singer-song writer, dancer, and record producer. He was initially a dancer, who loved to dance. Jung joined a dance crew called “Neuron” in his hometown of Gwangju, Korea in 1994. “Smile Hoya” was his stage name at that time. His dancing skills are so good that he won the National Dance championship in 2008. He ended up making it far after for six years, during JYP Entertainment auditions, which was finally cut.
Then, Jung Hoseok auditioned for a smaller Kpop Entertainment company, call Big Hit Entertainment. With his dance skills, strong understanding of rhythm, and potential for rap, J-Hope was accepted into the company. He moved to Seoul, and became a full-time trainee. While, when still as a trainee, J-Hope appeared as a rapper on singer Jo Kwon’s 2012 song “Animal.”
He blew away the competition and was signed by Bang Si-hyuk. Jung Ho-seok created his stage name J-Hope. And J-Hope was very active at his trainee period. He was often seen as a backup dancer for GLAM‘s “Glamorous” performance, 2AM Jo Kwon‘s “I’m Da One” promotions, and was even featured as a rapper for Jo Kwon’s track “Animal.”

Then, despite years of training, J-Hope was not initially feeling his place in the group. And this made him and Big Hit almost parted ways. RM convinced Big Hit Entertainment (along with J-Hope himself) that BTS band needed a memeber like J-Hope. After that, J-Hope stayed with the band and became one of BTS’s three rappers On June 13, 2013, alongside RM and Suga.
